This year’s event has a Hawaiian theme, and for 2017 VON has enlisted the support of Newent Rotary Club & District through supporting their ‘Meningitis Now’ campaign as our chosen charity this year.
Since 2014, the Newent Big Lunch has run successfully as a themed picnic by the lake on a Sunday afternoon in June, with live entertainment, music & dance. It gives local voluntary organisations, sports clubs and charities the opportunity to showcase themselves and connect with each other and with the town by staging activities at the event.
This year it is being held on Fathers Day, and we expect to hold hula hoop competitions for kids and Dads (or Grandads). The Rotary are bringing a big red London bus as an added attraction.
The Newent Big Lunch attracts up to 400 people each year, & the weather has always held fine for us. Newent town council and the Newent Initiative Trust give practical support to the event.
