Newent Initiative Trust


The Newent Initiative Trust is an independent ‘not for profit’ organisation formed to assist groups whose purpose it is to make Newent and the surrounding areas a better place to live, work and visit.”

 Chill Out Zone opened in 2003 as a millennium project from Newent Millennium Trust. The Trust received a Lottery Grant to buy the building.  It is a Free Drop in Centre for 11 – 18 years situated at 36 Broad Street. It opens  Monday to Thursday evening in term time. It opens throughout the school holidays on various days for activities.  Facilities include a pool table, a television, fully equipped kitchen and Arts and Crafts Room. Young people have fundraised to purchase equipment and enjoy activities including cooking, gardening, arts and crafts as well as having the opportunity to chill out after school and have help with homework or discuss social problems . The ChillOut is also used as a Community Cafe Monday to Thursdays , as a base for the Walking for Health group on Thursday mornings, and as a Young Persons Group on Tuesday afternoons.
