‘First Man’ (cert. 12A) Thursday 21st March

Ryan Gosling gives a riveting performance as Neil Armstrong on his journey to becoming the first man to walk on the moon. The perils and exhilarations of spaceflight are brilliantly conveyed to give you the hair-raising feeling of what it was really like inside Apollo 11. In her subtle, understated way Claire Foy is excellent as Armstrong’s wife, particularly in one stand out scene. Touching, carefully paced, and visually stunning, this works both up close and personal as well as when vast and expansive.

The running time of this film is 2 hour 21 mins, so there will be no interval.
